Have you ever been at a turning point in your life? I have. By the end of the day on May 16, 2016, i was at the brink of a breakdown. On that morning, William my husband of 28 years, passed away of a heart attack at home in his sleep. He was 52 years old. For the next 3-years, I’ve been on a quest to transition through grief and grow into transformation. To redesign, to recreate, and to reframe who I was beyond my role as a a wife, mother, and school principal. Now, I perceived myself as a widow, empty nester, and a woman in mid-life creating an encore career.

What would my life look like along this new path in my life’s journey?

My own awareness of the dimensions of wellness, which varied from five to twelve dimensions in some literature, became the blue print through which I began to redesign and transform my life from grief to growth. Through applying each dimension, I’ve become more resilient – to make a breakthrough to joy in my life.

The dimensions of wellness is based on research through the National Wellness Institute (1976), this interdependent model enabled me to become aware of the interconnectedness of each dimension and how they contribute to healthy living. Wellness has become my pathway to optimal living that is holistic. The “Breakthrough-8: Dimensions of Wellness” which will be referenced in my blog posts are: Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, Environmental, Social (Personal & Professional relationships), Intellectual, Occupational, and Financial Wellness.

Let’s get ready to enjoy this journey together!

Wishing you Peace & Joy,

Dr. J
